Malaika Rapolu didn't come up through a fancy academy. She came up on a public court in Cedar Park, Texas, with a father who'd never played tennis a day in his life — but learned alongside her, video by video, ball by ball.
Four years at the University of Texas — two national championships, an All-American honor, and a degree from McCombs School of Business in MIS. She turned pro in 2025 and quickly stacked 5 ITF titles across singles and doubles — including the $40k W50 in Austin as a wildcard, jumping 245 ranking spots in a single result.
That run earned her a wildcard into the WTA 250 ATX Open, where she made her tour debut against the world No. 107 in front of a hometown crowd. No agent. No sponsors. No full-time coach. Just a kid from Texas, her dad, and a dream.
Now she's building a career the way she was built: piece by piece, on her own terms.
